It's over this Monday...it's official, Cash for Clunkers is done as of Monday 8/24...hurry in to either store, 80% of our line-up qualifies!

Cash for Clunkers Ending

With money running out, $3 billion Cash for Clunkers program will end on Monday. The tally so far: 457,000 cars and $1.9 billion in rebates.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) --

The $3 billion Cash for Clunkers program will shut down on Monday, the government said Thursday.

Dealers must submit any pending Clunker deals, including any necessary paperwork, by 8 p.m. ET Monday.

"It's been a thrill to be part of the best economic news story in America," said Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood. "Now we are working toward an orderly wind down of this very popular program."

Officials decided to wind down the program, which Congress passed to spur flagging auto sales, after determining that it would soon run out of money.

As of Thursday, the program has recorded more than 457,000 dealer transactions worth $1.9 billion in rebates.

The stylish, make you sit up and notice, new 2010 Mazda 6. Here at OC Mazda!

It's What's on the Inside that Counts

Beauty doesn't stop at the door. The 2010 Mazda 6 has an all new interior design that's clean and elegantly simple, enhanced by quality materials, although the flimsy inside rearview mirror is out of step on this score. We enjoy the look of the major gauges, with their pulsing blue halos, and we were pleasantly surprised that the bolstering on the front seats was slightly aggressive, differing from the sporty message conveyed by the exterior.

On the other hand, the Mazda has a nifty touch we haven't seen anywhere else in this class: a three-position switch for adjusting headlight level ideal for occasions when you've filled the trunk with heavy stuff such as cement bags or your mother-in-law.

Engine Power
The Mazda's standard transmission is a six-speed manual which is a satisfying piece of equipment with short throws and positive engagements. The Mazda's four-cylinder is up from 2.3 liters and 156 horsepower to 2.5 liters and 170 horses168 in PZEV (Partial Zero-Emission Vehicle) California editions such as our test car. Although the Mazda's power plant comes up seven horses short of the Fusion's, it registered identical times in the benchmark sprints: 0 to 60 in 8.0 seconds, the quarter-mile in 16.1 at 88 mph.

Fuel-economy estimates stand at 20 mpg city/29 highway and 23 combined for four-cylinder models with the manual transmission, while the five-speed auto improves the four's numbers to 21 mpg city/30 highway and 24 combined. These are class-competitive numbers. However, if you opt for the V6, estimates drop to 17 mpg city/25 highway and 20 combined, which is about as bad as it gets in this segment.

Testers found that the all new 6 showed that the handling and aggressiveness hasn't been diminished by the increase in size over the previous model. There are subtle distinctions over its predecessor, and they are all good. Brake pedal feel was impressive in comparison to its competitors. The Mazda turned in readily, with responsive handling.

Auto 123.com likes the SPEED3...who can blame them!

Mosport, Ontario – The torrential rain that seemingly flushes our summer down the drain did not spare the Mosport International Raceway, near Toronto. It also affected my first contact with the all-new 2010 Mazdaspeed3, forcing me to use my entire bag of tricks and my good old racing reflexes in order to be able to push this sporty compact to the limit.
As I soon found out, though, the challenge was much easier than anticipated. This new generation has become a little less extreme, more flexible and way more balanced. Plus, with Mazda sticking to a front-wheel drive configuration instead of all-wheel drive, the Mazdaspeed3 doesn’t have to face direct competition from the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution and Subaru Impreza WRX, meaning it stands alone atop its class.

For sure, it retained one of its biggest strengths; as a true member of the Mazda family, the 2010 Mazdaspeed3 is still among the best-handling Japanese cars on the road.

They like it!
"As with the standard Mazda3, Mazda's "Nagare" design language is apparent. The 2010 version receives a new lower airdam and hood scoop to differentiate it. The larger scoop improves intercooler airflow and frees enough real estate for a new intake duct; both upgrades, Mazda says, improve efficiency. Side skirts and larger exhaust tips complete the visual upgrades."
